Chiropractic Care

Chiropractors use various techniques to promote healing of the muscles, joints, and nerves of the body. This helps restore the normal function of the muscles and joints, decreases inflammation, reduces scar tissue, promotes flexibility, and allows the nervous system to function optimally. Dr. Mandin uses a variety of manual techniques, including manipulation or adjustments, and soft tissue therapy. Dr. Mandin also uses therapeutic modalities such as laser, ultrasound, interferential current, and electrical muscle stimulation. We offer a variety of approaches to care to customize our approach to your specific needs and concerns.

Colin Mandin offers acupuncture as both a Chiropractor, and as a Registered Acupuncturist. He has studied acupuncture at the Academy of Traditional Acupuncture in Toronto and participates in continuing education on an ongoing basis. Colin's approach to care combines traditional theories of acupuncture with modern scientific evidence. Fine needle or laser acupuncture is offered to help stimulate the body's healing ability to reduce inflammation and promote general well being.
Biomechanical Gait Analysis & Custom Orthotics

Dr. Mandin has a special interest in foot biomechanics as it relates to entire kinetic chain. Many conditions seen in clinic can be aggravated by faulty foot mechanics, and often, once the problem is identified and corrected, treatment is more effective and better outcomes are achieved. Dr. Mandin does both biomechanical and orthopedic exams, as well as a computerized gait scan to screen for conditions. Common conditions which may be helped by the consistent use of custom orthotics include: shin splints, knee, hip, and low back pain, as well as foot pain resulting from plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, overpronation, or sprains and strains.
Therapeutic Modalities

Laser Therapeutic (cold, or low level) lasers use light energy to decrease pain and inflammation, and stimulate healing at the cellular level. This safe, painless procedure is effective in improving many conditions ranging from sprains and strains, to arthritis. Ultrasound: This painless treatment uses high frequency sound vibrations to penetrate tissues--stimulating healing and breaking down unhealthy scar tissue. Electrotherapy: This treatment sends tiny electrical impulses into tissues to stimulate blood flow, reduce swelling, and promote the secretion of endorphins and other natural pain killers. Electrotherapy helps relieve pain and muscle spasm and can be helpful with sprains, strains, and in reducing muscle atrophy.

As part of routine care, to help promote recovery and help prevent recurrences, customized stretches and strengthening programs are provided. As care progresses, for clients wishing greater challenge, progressive exercise plans may be developed.
